Board of Directors

The Board of Directors (BOD) consists of nine members elected by the owners each serving a term no longer than three years. BOD Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, from 6:30 p.m. to approximately 9 p.m. in the Hoff Building at 425 E. Seventh St. A light fare is served at 6:00 pm prior to the Board meeting.

Board elections are held each February, and applications can be sent to the Board via email or given to the Board at a meeting. To qualify to run for the Board, you must have been an owner for at least six months and must have attended two or more Board meetings.

All owners are welcome to attend meetings, and 10 minutes of open owner time for comments or questions are scheduled on every meeting agenda.  Owners who attend the full meeting will receive two 5% off discount Co-op shopping coupons valid for the month of the Board Meeting they attend.

As a Board Member you will:

  • Ensure that our Co-op stays true to its values and its members.
  • Monitor the Co-op’s performance through “Policy Governance,” the Board’s governance process (please see reverse side for a description of Policy Governance).
  • Actively participate in visioning and shaping how our Co-op will continue to fulfill its goals in the future, including new ways the Co-op can make connections in our community and region.
  • Find a new community of friends on the Board and at the Co-op.

Board Member Time Commitment:

  • Review board packet several days prior to Board Meeting and ask any questions in advance of the meeting (takes about 2 hours).
  • Attend and be prepared to participate at monthly Board Meeting (there are 11 meetings per year the first Wed. of every month  beginning at 6:30 p.m., and each runs about 3 hours).
  • Attend Board Retreats (generally one full day or two half-days per year).
  • Attend at least two Board events during the year (these are generally outreach events with owners).
  • Attend the Annual Meeting.
  • Attend a regional conference with other Co-op boards to help orient and train new board members (all expenses paid for by Co-op, optional).
  • Be excited, motivated and willing to share your great ideas for how our Co-op can be even more than it already is!
